Gerald Harris is returning from a three-year layoff – and he’s doing it in a hometown headliner.
Officials recently announced Harris (22-5), a former UFC fighter, is slated to fight fellow welterweight Aaron Cobb (7-3) in Legacy FC 63’s December headliner.
Legacy FC 63 takes place Dec. 2 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla., and the main card airs on AXS TV.
Harris, a Tulsa-based fighter and comedian, announced his retirement in 2014 but recently announced a potential return to the cage. Harris, who appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter 7,” ultimately returned to the organization in 2010 and went 3-1 with the promotion before a surprising release. The 36-year-old is 5-1 in six bouts and earned a unanimous-decision victory over Jorge Santiago in his most recent appearance.
He now returns from retirement to fight Cobb, a veteran of the Midwest circuit who’s 3-1 over his past four fights. Since his 2010 pro debut, all six of the grappler’s pro wins have come via stoppage (five submissions and one knockout). He most recently submitted Jeff Jenkins (0-3) with a first-round Americana.
In Legacy FC 63’s co-headliner, Trey Houston (11-3), a former Bellator fighter and 2014 BattleGrounds MMA tournament competitor, takes on fellow welterweight Levi Queen (8-3), who’s on a 6-1 run with six stoppages.
